Privacy Policy for Rate My FPL
Effective date: 20 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Rate My FPL iOS application (the "App"). It applies to the App and support communications about the App.
Rate My FPL is an independent fantasy-football analysis tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Premier League or Fantasy Premier League.
1. Privacy summary
- You do not need to create an account to use the App.
- A squad screenshot you select is analysed on your device. We do not upload the screenshot to our servers.
- Scan history is stored locally on your device and can be deleted from the App.
- The App uses external services to access public fantasy-football information and provide the analysis you request.
- The App Store and specialist service providers process information needed to offer, validate and restore in-app purchases.
- If you install the App after interacting with one of our Apple Ads campaigns, Apple and our purchase-management provider may process limited campaign-attribution information so we can measure our own advertising.
- We do not display third-party advertising, sell personal information or use your information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
2. Information handled by the App
2.1 Team searches and public team information
If you search by team or manager name, the text you enter is sent to services needed to find matching publicly accessible fantasy-football teams. After you select a team, the App retrieves public information that may include:
- FPL entry and team identifiers;
- team name and manager name;
- squad selections, captain and bench selections;
- gameweek, transfer and budget information; and
- player, club, fixture and points information.
This information may relate to you or to another person whose public team you choose to analyse. We use it only to retrieve, display and analyse the selected squad. The App may store the resulting scan locally; we do not maintain a central database of searched teams.
Services that process a search or data request may receive normal internet connection information such as an IP address, request time and device or network information. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
2.2 Screenshot recognition
When you choose screenshot scanning, the App temporarily accesses the image you select and analyses it on your device. The image is not uploaded by Rate My FPL and is not saved to our servers.
Recognised player names and the squad derived from them are used to calculate your result and may be included in local scan history. You control which image you select and should only use an image you are entitled to use. Other apps or services involved in creating, storing or backing up the original image operate under their own privacy terms.
2.3 Scan history and local preferences
The App stores recent scan results locally on your device. A result may contain:
- scan date and source;
- gameweek;
- team name and, where available, manager name;
- squad and player information;
- SquadScore, expected-points and fixture-difficulty analysis; and
- generated weaknesses and improvement tips.
The App also stores onboarding status and other basic preferences locally. You can delete individual history items or clear history in the App.
2.4 Free-scan counter
The App includes two free lifetime scans. A device-level record is stored solely to apply this allowance and may remain after the App is deleted or reinstalled. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2.5 Prediction and fixture data
The App retrieves football-related fixture and prediction data from external data and hosting services. This data is not information supplied by you. Those services may receive normal connection information when the App checks for or retrieves data.
2.6 Purchases and subscription status
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
We use a specialist purchase-management provider to present products, verify purchases, determine premium entitlement and restore purchases. The App does not provide that provider with an account name or email address. It may process a pseudonymous app identifier and limited technical and transaction information, such as device platform, product, purchase record and subscription status, as needed to provide these functions.
The App Store and purchase-management providers may retain purchase records where required to provide their services, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or comply with law.
2.7 Apple Ads attribution
If you install the App after interacting with an advertisement for Rate My FPL on the App Store, Apple may provide a privacy-preserving attribution token. Our purchase-management provider uses that token to request limited attribution information from Apple and associate it with the anonymous purchase record used for the App.
The information may indicate whether the install was attributed to Apple Ads and may include campaign, ad group, keyword, country or region, ad, placement, claim type and conversion type identifiers. Standard attribution does not provide us with your name, email address or Apple Account details.
We use this information to measure downloads, subscriptions, revenue and lifetime value from our own App Store campaigns; compare campaign performance; prevent waste; and make marketing-budget decisions. We do not use it to show third-party advertising, build a profile across other companies' apps or websites, or target you with advertising outside the App.
2.8 Sharing
If you choose Share, the App creates a share image and accompanying text on your device and opens the iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent to a destination until you select one. The selected destination—such as Messages, Mail or a social platform—handles the shared content under its own terms and privacy policy.
2.9 Support communications
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message and any attachments. We use it to respond, provide support, protect the App and keep any records required by law.
3. How and why we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide screenshot recognition, public-team lookup and squad analysis;
- calculate scores, projections, fixture difficulty and tips;
- save and display local scan history;
- administer the two-scan free allowance;
- provide, validate and restore premium access;
- attribute installs and purchases to our Apple Ads campaigns and measure their effectiveness;
- troubleshoot, secure and maintain the App;
- respond to support requests; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or similar law applies, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the App, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent or deliberate request where required—for example, when you choose an image or initiate sharing.
4. When information is disclosed
We disclose limited information only as needed to provide the App, including to:
- the App Store operator and purchase-management providers for payments, purchase verification, subscription status and restoration;
- Apple and our purchase-management provider for privacy-preserving attribution and measurement of our own Apple Ads campaigns;
- football data, search and hosting providers for team lookup and delivery of analysis data;
- a destination you deliberately choose when sharing a result; and
- professional advisers, authorities or other parties where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, security or safety.
We may also disclose information as part of a business reorganisation, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising or use it to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
5. Storage and retention
- Screenshots: held transiently for on-device recognition; not uploaded or retained by us.
- Scan history and preferences: remain locally on the device until you delete them, clear app data or uninstall the App. Older history may be removed automatically.
- Supporting football data: may be stored temporarily on the device and is refreshed or removed when no longer needed.
- Free-scan record: may survive deletion or reinstallation of the App so that the lifetime allowance can be applied consistently.
- Support records: kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, protect legal rights and meet legal obligations.
- Purchase records: retained by the App Store and purchase-management providers according to their policies, our service agreements and applicable law.
- Apple Ads attribution: retained by Apple and our purchase-management provider according to their policies, our service agreements and applicable law, and associated with an anonymous app user identifier rather than an account you create with us.
Third-party services may keep network, security and transaction logs under their own retention rules. We do not control their independent retention obligations.
6. Your choices and rights
You can:
- decline to select a screenshot and use team search instead, or vice versa;
- delete scans or clear scan history from within the App;
- control photo access through iOS settings and the system photo picker;
- choose whether and where to share a result;
- manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings; and
- delete the App to remove its ordinary local storage, noting that the device-level free-scan record may remain.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us at eugene.dev.apple@gmail.com to make a request. We may need to verify the request. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
Because most scan information exists only on your device, we may not possess or be able to retrieve it. You can delete that information directly in the App.
7. International data transfers
Our service providers may process information outside your country. Where we are responsible for a transfer, we use safeguards required by applicable law. Their privacy notices provide further information about processing locations and transfer safeguards.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the information handled, including protected local storage and encrypted network connections. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Rate My FPL is a general-audience sports utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in their country. We do not knowingly ask children to create an account or submit personal information to us. If you believe a child has sent personal information through a support request, contact us so we can address it.
10. Third-party services and links
The App relies on or links to services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. This Policy describes our handling of information and does not replace those third-party policies.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the App, our providers or applicable laws change. We will update the effective date and, where required, provide additional notice in the App or through the App Store. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise.
